  1. Degree and exequátur. The General Health Law 42-01 (art. 92) requires a degree from a recognized university and the exequátur from the Executive Branch to practice in the health sciences. Ask to see them.
  2. Specialty. Ask where they trained in plastic surgery and whether they belong to SODOCIPRE, which has a search by name at sodocipre.net.
  3. Where they operate. The health authority licenses health facilities (arts. 99 and 100 of the same law). Ask for the name of the surgical center and who administers the anesthesia.
  4. A written quote. It should say what is included: fees, surgical center, anesthesia, implants or supplies and follow-up visits.
  5. Real cases. Ask to see results from patients who agreed to show them. Be wary of anyone who guarantees a result: no surgery can.
  6. Follow-up. Ask how many check-ups are included, whom you call if there is a complication and what happens if you need a revision.

Search their first or last name in the SODOCIPRE directory (sodocipre.net) and confirm they belong to the Dominican Medical College. Not appearing in the search does not by itself mean they practice illegally: ask them directly about their degree, license and plastic surgery training.
